Ron has been active in the insurance and financial services industries for over 45 years. During his career he established and served as President and General Agent of three successful independent life insurance agencies. In 1978 he qualified as a Registered Principal and several years later he formed a successful NASD Broker Dealer which operated in over 40 states from 1981 through 1991. In 2002 Ron joined CPG, LLC where he continues to work with clients and independent brokers.

Philip Goodman started his insurance career in 1973 as a career agent specializing in Disability Income Insurance. In 1974 Phil went to work in the pension department at William Penn Life Insurance Company of New York. He left William Penn as Assistant Vice President/Pension Director in 1982, to start his own agency in Jericho, New York. Comprehensive Planning-Goodman,LLC was formed in 1995 as a merger between Philip Goodman Agency, inc and Comprehensive Planning Group,LTD.

Phil has served on many Insurance Company advisory boards and is a past president and committee member of The Life Supervisors Association of New York.

David Birns was born into the life insurance business and is a fourth generation professional. David followed in his father’s footsteps as a Hall of Fame associate of The Equitable/AXA Advisors. His advisor/broker prospective gives him insight into the challenges facing today’s brokers. A partner in the Ranni-Gilbert Agency since 2000, David specializes in providing extraordinary service and in thinking “out-of-the-box” in his case design.

David earned a BS in finance from The George Washington University and currently lives with his family in Plainview.

Rich brings over 27 years of experience and a lifetime of expertise to our agency. He is part of the 4th generation of Birns insurance professionals, following his father who was a legend in the industry. After literally starting in the mailroom at The Equitable, Rich served as Illustration Director, Agent, District Manager, and CLU Advisor before moving into the brokerage field. Since 1997, he has been General Agent for Ranni-Gilbert Agency, a pioneer in impaired risk brokerage.

Rich specializes in providing sophisticated case design and underwriting for challenging cases. He is a master at helping his brokers get those tough cases placed. Rich has a B.S. in Finance from Bryant University in Rhode Island, and resides with his wife and sons in Jericho, NY.
