Ron Cohen – Member
Ron has been active in the insurance and financial services industries for over 45 years. During his career he established and served as President and General Agent of three successful independent life insurance agencies. In 1978 he qualified as a Registered Principal and several years later he formed a successful NASD Broker Dealer which operated in over 40 states from 1981 through 1991. In 2002 Ron joined CPG, LLC where he continues to work with clients and independent brokers.
Philip Goodman – Member
Philip Goodman started his insurance career in 1973 as a career agent specializing in Disability Income Insurance. In 1974 Phil went to work in the pension department at William Penn Life Insurance Company of New York. He left William Penn as Assistant Vice President/Pension Director in 1982, to start his own agency in Jericho, New York. Comprehensive Planning-Goodman,LLC was formed in 1995 as a merger between Philip Goodman Agency, inc and Comprehensive Planning Group,LTD.
Phil has served on many Insurance Company advisory boards and is a past president and committee member of The Life Supervisors Association of New York.
Mark D. Levy, CLU, ChFC – Member
Mark specializes in case design and large case implementation. He has been in the life insurance business since 1973. Early in his career, Mark worked for The Travelers, followed by Pension Service Corporation, a full service pension administration firm. While at Pension Service Corporation, Mark was responsible for overseeing the placement of large amounts of life insurance with The Manhattan Life Insurance Company for corporate retirement plans. This led him to start his own multi-life brokerage agency, Comprehensive Planning Group, LTD.
In 1994, Mark merged with his current partner, Philip Goodman to form Comprehensive Planning – Goodman, LLC. (CPG). Because Mark understands the broker business and the complexities that come with each case, brokers know they can depend on him for personal and professional service. Today, CPG is a national agency, operating in every state, except Hawaii.
Mark was inducted into the William Penn Life Insurance Company Hall of Fame in 2004. He is also the recipient of their Paul Goodman Award, honoring his outstanding service and contribution to the life insurance industry. Mark is a member of NAILBA, as well as three national independent marketing organizations; The Marketing Alliance, Inc., Diversified Marketing Group, and The Republic Marketing Group. He has also served on Field Advisory Committees for several insurance carriers. An active member of his community, Mark is an Associate Trustee of the Northwell Health in Manhasset, New York.
Salvatore A. Manno, CLU, ChFC, CLTC – Member
Sal began his insurance career in 1980 at Met Life as an agent and moved on to New York Life where he became the Training Supervisor for the Huntington District Office and then to Phoenix Mutual Life as a Sales Manager.
He took a position as a Brokerage Manager at Ronco Agencies Inc. in 1992 and subsequently helped establish Island Brokerage Corp. where he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of a General Agency.
He then became a member of CPG, LLC in 2002 and is responsible for working with brokers in all aspects of life insurance, disability and long term care from case design to getting business placed.
David Birns – Member
David Birns was born into the life insurance business and is a fourth generation professional. David followed in his father’s footsteps as a Hall of Fame associate of The Equitable/AXA Advisors. His advisor/broker prospective gives him insight into the challenges facing today’s brokers. A partner in the Ranni-Gilbert Agency since 2000, David specializes in providing extraordinary service and in thinking “out-of-the-box” in his case design.
David earned a BS in finance from The George Washington University and currently lives with his family in Plainview.
Richard A. Birns, CLU, ChFC – Member
Rich brings over 27 years of experience and a lifetime of expertise to our agency. He is part of the 4th generation of Birns insurance professionals, following his father who was a legend in the industry. After literally starting in the mailroom at The Equitable, Rich served as Illustration Director, Agent, District Manager, and CLU Advisor before moving into the brokerage field. Since 1997, he has been General Agent for Ranni-Gilbert Agency, a pioneer in impaired risk brokerage.
Rich specializes in providing sophisticated case design and underwriting for challenging cases. He is a master at helping his brokers get those tough cases placed. Rich has a B.S. in Finance from Bryant University in Rhode Island, and resides with his wife and sons in Jericho, NY.
