    • New Trendsetter portfolio premium rates  – reminder
      Effective February 14, 2015, premium rates for Trendsetter Super and Trendsetter LB were adjusted to maintain an overall competitive price. The adjustments re-balance pricing to remain in the top three in key cells and maintain the objective of being nimble in adjusting to ongoing changes in the marketplace.  Transition rules:
      • Applications that were received through iGO or in the Home Office by February 13, 2015, will receive the old rate.
      • Applications received through iGO or in the Home Office between February 14, 2015 and March 20, 2015 will automatically be issued with the base plan rates most favorable for the applicant.
      • Applications received through iGO or in the Home Office on or after March 21, 2015 will be issued with the new rate.  
    • Trendsetter Express has been discontinued reminder
      Effective February 14, 2015, Trendsetter Express is no longer available for sale. A great alternative to Trendsetter Express is Transamerica’s term with living benefits product – Trendsetter LB. Trendsetter Express will continue to be available for sale in Massachusetts and Puerto Rico until further notice. Trendsetter LB is currently not available for sale in Massachusetts and Puerto Rico.
    • Massachusetts applications updated
      Massachusetts applications for many of Transamerica’s leading products have been updated to reflect new Medical Information Bureau (MIB) language. View the list of affected products. Effective February 13, 2015, these new applications must be used. The last day old forms will be accepted is April 10, 2015.

    • Product re-training required for the Power Series of Index Annuities
      All agents, including those who have previously taken our index annuity product training, must take the new product training; which contains important information about the two new index interest crediting strategies and the new index they utilize.
    • American Pathway Deferred Income Annuity (DIA) is now available as a QLAC
      Changes in IRS regulations for required minimum distributions (RMDs) now allow a DIA to be offered as a Qualified Longevity Annuity Contract (QLAC). The result is that your clients will be able to postpone taking part of their RMDs until a later age, as late as age 85, thereby conserving their assets.     • Suitability Formrevised
      In an effort to address recent state regulatory developments and improve overall usability, First Symetra National Life Insurance Company of new York (“First Symetra”) is revising the Individual Fixed and Deferred Annuity Suitability Profile that is required with all First Symetra individual fixed and indexed deferred annuity applications.  The new version of the annuity suitability profile (LP-1514/NY 2/15) will be available for use starting 2/23/15. Applications submitted on or after 2/23/15 should be accompanied by the new version of the form. Notable changes include:
      • Replacing free-form boxes with simpler checkboxes
      • Moving “Source of income” from the Personal Identification” section to the “Current Financial Status” section
      • Adding a product comparison section (existing product vs. new product)
      • Eliminating the option to decline providing information
      • Question 8a: Adding “Registered/Variable Product” to “Source of Funds.”
      • Question 12: Expanded inquiry about the need for withdrawals
      • Agent Acknowledgement section” “Are you registered with FINRA?” question has been added. (Note: if funds are coming from a registered product and the agent is not registered with FINRA, business will be rejected.)
  • North American:

      The 5-Year North American Guarantee Choice now offers one of the top 5-Year MYGA rates from a carrier rated A+ (Superior) by A.M. Best! If your clients have assets on the sidelines or are considering “waiting for rates to improve,” show them the benefits of a multi-year guarantee annuity.

  • John Hancock:
    • 2013 and 2010 in-force rate action notifications for late February

      • The 2013 in-force rate action includes John Hancock LTCI individual policies originally issued in Colorado, Connecticut, and New Jersey. Also, they will continue implementation in Alaska, Arizona, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Wisconsin and will begin notifications for additional products in those states. Fortis LTCI individual policies originally issued in North Dakota and Wyoming are impacted.
      • The 2010 in-force rate action includes John Hancock LTCI individual policies originally issued in Colorado, Montana, and New Jersey. Fortis LTCI individual policies originally issued in Virginia are impacted.
    • NY Partnership LTCI product discontinued effective April 27th
      John Hancock will discontinue its’ New York Partnership individual long-term care insurance policies (Policy Forms: LTC-11 NYP and LTC-11 SGNYP) effective April 27, 2015. Their LTC product portfolio is moving in a different direction than New York Partnership product requirements allow. Click here for complete details.
    • Support materials during tax season
      Now that tax season has arrived, John Hancock is prepared to support you with numerous materials that cover LTC insurance tax considerations. The tax guide (GFR-TX) and the prospecting brochure (LTC-4920) have been updated for 2015 and are available to order and download on www.jhltc.com. While you’re there, check out the Tax Center, Producer Support>Resource Centers for all available materials.
    • Caregiver Support Services – update
      John Hancock’s Caregiver Support Services program will continue to offer the same benefits that it always has, through a new vendor. These benefits provide valuable support in the event that your clients find themselves in a caregiver role before they need care of their own.
    • John Hancock Leadership flier
      When you recommend LTC insurance to your client, it’s important to consider the company that stands behind the coverage.
